Women from the Management Board of the Council of Women in Business in Bulgaria (CWBB) and heads of the working groups met with the ambassador of Sweden, H.E. Katarina Rangnitt. The working lunch took place with the assistance of Zoya Paunova, Honorary Consul General of the Kingdom of Sweden.
“Ambassador Rangnitt has an impressive biography and is a true friend to Bulgaria,” commented Paunova at the beginning of the meeting. Tsvetanka Mincheva, Chief Executive Officer and Chair of the Board of UniCredit Bulbank, presented CWBB’s activities and talked about the organization’s initiatives, many of which have proven to be sustainable over time and are now in their eighth editions.
“There aren’t so many women in leadership positions in Sweden compared to Bulgaria,” said Ambassador Rangnitt. She commented that Sweden has good examples in the field of parental leave for the birth or adoption of a child, as well as established practices for dealing with domestic violence, which Bulgaria can borrow.
“As women, we want to be successful in all aspects – to be both mothers and professionals. I think our countries have a lot to learn from each other,” Ambassador Rangnitt added.
Some of the topics discussed included the quotas for women in management positions as proposed by the European Union, as well as the initiatives aimed at young people to stay in their homeland. The meeting ended with a promise for more joint initiatives, as well as establishing contact with Swedish women’s organizations to cooperate within the newly created working group for International Cooperation at CWBB.
The meeting was held on June 16 in At the Eagles’ restaurant. Later on the same day, some of the ladies from CWBB were also participants in an event dedicated to Sweden’s national holiday.
