41 women successfully complete the fifth edition of the Leadership Academy of the Council of Women in Business

 

  • Highly professional training for women on mid level management positions and owners of small and medium-sized enterprises is being held with the support of the member companies

  • More than 200 women from Sofia and other parts of the country have successfully finished the training since 2014 until now

 

The fifth edition of the Council of Women in Business  (CWB) Leadership academy “Successful in Bulgaria” ended with an emotional ceremony, many positive responses and plans for the expansion of the format of the program. One of the organization’s most successful programs, distinguished with the award “Investor in human capital” of the Bulgarian Business Leaders Forum, keeps reestablishing itself and developing as a long-term investment in talented women in Bulgaria. Since its first edition in 2014, a total of 217 participants have finished the training.

_DSC7915The event was held on April 23rd at the International center of UniCredit Bulbank and brought together members of the organization, alumni from previous editions of the Academy, many friends and supporters. Among the official guests was the deputy mayor of Sofia for Green system, ecology and land use Ms Yoana Hristova. “It is extremely important for us to make an environment for building and improving the skills women need in order to develop successful careers, balance their personal and private lives, and achieve the results they want. We are proud that for its five years the Leadership Academy “Successful in Bulgaria” established and proved itself as a successful and sustainable program”, said Dr. Eng. Boriana Manolova, head of the board of managers of the Council of Women in Business in Bulgaria and CEO of Siemens Bulgaria.

 

Starting in 2014, the Leadership Academy “Successful in Bulgaria” is a free of charge training program, that prepares women on mid level management positions and owners of small and medium-sized enterprises for the next steps in their professional development. The modules are aimed at developing leadership skills, that promote initiative and entrepreneurship in modern women. Members of the Council of Women in Business in Bulgaria also take part in the program and share their valuable experience.

_DSC8003Starting with 5 modules, led by UniCredit BulBank instructors, the fifth edition of the Academy was supported by the member companies. UniCredit BulBank, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, SAP, HILL International, Prestige-96, ALL Channels Communications, Center for analysis and crisis communications gathered their efforts and provided an 8-module program aimed at instructing various soft skills, among which are developing of leadership skills, encouraging of initiative and entrepreneurship, taking bigger responsibilities and a more successful realization in the field.

_DSC8240“Unicredit BulBank supports the Leadership Academy “Successful in Bulgaria” for the fifth year in a row. The skills women acquire during the Academy help them develop in their business and careers”, shared Ms Tsvetanka Mincheva, head of Global Banking Services Division and member of the management board at Unicredit Bulbank, who is part of the management board of the Council of Women in Business in Bulgaria.

With its idea for promoting the development of women and their career growth, the Leadership Academy attracted the support of the mayor of Sofia Ms Yordanka Fandakova, who is the patron of the initiative.

On behalf of the mayor, the deputy mayor of Sofia on environment Yoana Hristova and Dr. Eng. Boriana Manolova presented the women with certificates for the successful completion of the Leadership program.

“More and more names of women become a synonym for professionalism and expertise”, stated Ms Hristova. She emphasized that equality means equal opportunities for gaining knowledge and skills and that is why the formula “education – more education” remains a leading one.


The Council of Women in Business in Bulgaria is a non-governmental organization in favour of society. Its members are top managers and representatives of companies and organizations in Bulgaria. Among the objectives of the Council are the popularization of good practices and programs that encourage the professional career development of the women in the small and middle-sized business and their development in management positions; the development and establishment of professional values in the civil society, education, science, culture, technology and the support of the young specialists and talents so that they can realize their potential in Bulgaria and to help young people from disadvantaged social upbringing in their education.
