“Lufthansa Technik Sofia” brought the interns into the world of planes

lufthansa2“Lufthansa Technik Sofia” brought the interns from member companies of the Council of women in business in Bulgaria into the world of planes. The company welcomed the interns as part of the young.LEADERS.talk events within the Council’s National Internship Initiative. Their purpose is to enable the young people to meet their role models – from leaders and top managers of leading companies to young and successful professionals and entrepreneurs, and to draw lessons from their personal stories.

During the visit the interns got familiar with the company’s history and its business. “Lufthansa Technik Sofia” started 11 years ago with 200 employees and their number today is 1 200. The company is developing very rapidly and has 8 aircraft service bays.

Georgi Stamboliiski, quality inspector, spoke about the company’s core business. The young people were very impressed to see a plane repair. They were very curious to learn more about it but also asked questions like “Is it dangerous to use mobile phones during a flight”.

lufthansa1Georgi Stamboliiski said that for the company safety comes first and the planes are the most secure transport. “The aviation is developing faster than the IT industry and we are like the surgeons – we have to learn every day in order to keep up with the new trends”, said Stamboliiski.

The career opportunities and the open job positions at the company were also presented to the interns.

For the fourth consecutive year, the Council of Women in Business in Bulgaria has been organizing the National Internship Initiative “Stay in Bulgaria”. The program is oriented towards the youngest professionals and will enable them once again to prove their qualities and skills, to get involved into the real business and to find opportunities for development along with suitable environment and a stimulus for their professional realization in Bulgaria. The initiative is under the patronage of Mrs. Eva Maydell, MEP.


In 2018 the Council of Women in Business in Bulgaria launched its Young.LEADERS.talk series which takes place within the Council’s National Internship Initiative. Its purpose is to enable young people to meet their role models – political leaders, managers and young professionals who started their own careers as interns, as well as to visit some of the largest companies in Bulgaria.  In this way young people have the opportunity to get familiar with the business world and to learn how companies are organized and how they operate.
