International and Bulgarian companies shared their experience with programs for ensuring equality and diversity in the workplace
On May 15, Bulgarian and international companies shared their achievements and inspiring ideas for improving work environment through equality and diversity programs in a webinar, initiated by the Council of Women in Business in Bulgaria, in front of members, friends and partners of the organization. The event was held within the European Diversity Month – May.
Participants in the online event included winners of last year’s CWBB National Awards: Accenture Bulgaria, VMware, UniCredit Bulbank, Interlang, L’Oréal Bulgaria, Prestige, Asarel-Medet. Tsvetanka Mincheva, President of CWBB, announced the upcoming second edition of the CWBB National Awards, and the acceptance of applications in the individual categories will begin in September.
The Council of Women in Business in Bulgaria provided a forum for the companies to talk about their successfully implemented campaigns with which they promote the active presence of women in leadership positions in business and in science. The good examples presented included support for young parents who combine work with raising a child. The participants in the webinar also got acquainted with implemented programs in practice of the companies for inclusion and ensuring diversity in work teams. Scholarship initiatives with which businesses support disadvantaged youth were also an important highlight of the event’s program.
Global statistics show that including diversity in business, not only in terms of gender, but also age and culture, makes companies more successful, more sustainable and with a better work environment. This is also one of the main goals of the Council of Women in Business in Bulgaria: to continue to work actively for the development and implementation of effective models in businesses in our country related to equality and diversity in the work environment. The first developed program in this direction is already a fact. At the beginning of the year, the Council, in partnership with the Faculty of Economics of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, launched a unique for the country certification academy for “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion”, from which 21 participants already graduated.
