On October 30, CWBB representatives participated in the 7th national camp for ethnic Roma girls that took place in Borovets this weekend, invited by Arete Youth.

Gergana Ivanova, founder and partner in The Smarts Advertising Agency and member of CWBB’s Management Board, and Victoria Blazheva, Director of Strategy and Business at UniCredit Bulbank, shared their personal stories and provided advice to young girls on how to combine and balance studies, work and personal life.

Arete Foundation’s traditional camps are the place where every year more than 25 girls from across the country gather to receive support and inspiration to continue their education and pursue their dreams.

Did you know that only 21% of Roma girls complete their school and university studies? On the other hand, almost 50% of the girls who have participated in the camp so far have become students, and 57 of these 69 girls have already graduated from university, with some of them being now lawyers and others advancing very successfully in various medical specialties.

With this participation, CWBB kicks off its fruitful cooperation with the Arete Youth Foundation, which will be an essential part of the Council’s initiatives towards diversity, equity and inclusion.
