Leading specialists from A1 today welcomed 23 participants of the National Internship Initiative of the Council of Women in Business in Bulgaria. The young people, doing internships in CWBB member companies, are part of the program, organized for the fourth time in partnership with A1. They chose to visit A1 and hear the success stories of leading experts, their career development and the specifics of their work in the company. The group included interns from UniCredit Bulbank, Prestige 96, Asarel-Medet, ABB and Dundee Precious Metals and A1.

“Supporting young people’s professional development is the best investment each of us can make. This is also the reason why A1 has developed a number of programs and provided  long-term support  to the National Internship Initiative of the Council of Women in Business in Bulgaria,” said Lyubomir Ivanov, Senior Manager, Talent Acquisition, Training and Development, A1 Bulgaria, at the opening of the meeting. He added that over 1,200 young people have started their careers with A1’s internship initiative and 33% of them moved on to a full-time position with the company. Petya Nikolova, senior expert in the Human Resources department, presented the A1 youth programs and the opportunities for career development for people starting their professional path in the company.

“The technologies I work with on a daily basis are developing dynamically, and I use every moment to upgrade my skills and pass on valuable knowledge to my colleagues. My advice to you is never stop learning and developing,” said Rositsa Rusenova, Senior Manager in the Network Services department at A1 Bulgaria. She shared her personal experience about her professional development and growth in A1. Rositsa Rusenova has been part of the company for six years and has a telecommunications engineering degree from TU Sofia. While working at A1, Rositsa Rusenova has gained a lot of experience and has successfully defended numerous professional certifications, including Cisco CCNP, Juniper JNCIP-SP and Nokia NRS1. The interns also had the opportunity to learn more about her current work in Network and Services as well as about basic concepts and projects in A1’s network services.

Among the highlights of the day was the interns’ visit to the A1 Mobile and Fixed Network Monitoring Center. They had the opportunity to see some of the server rooms, thanks to which part of the company’s digital infrastructure is operating. Stefan Kovachev, manager of the Convergent Network and Services Monitoring team, and Ivaylo Mitin, manager of the server rooms in the Mobile Network Infrastructure team, answered their questions.

As part of the National Internship Initiative this year, the interns have the opportunity to participate in in-person events in other member companies of the Council like Unicredit Bulbank, Nestle, Electrohold ČEZ, Siemens and Lidl. Through these visits to the offices of leading Bulgarian companies and meetings with established experts, they learn more about what it means to work in a corporate environment. As part of the initiative organized by CWBB with the support of A1, they upgrade their knowledge and skills through six online trainings on social skills, led by established experts in their fields, and have the opportunity to participate in volunteer activities.
