A special guest of the event was the mayor of Sofia – Mrs. Yordanka Fandakova.

More than 150 guests were present at the Christmas cocktail of the Council of Women in Business in Bulgaria. The event was on 12^th of December in the restaurant “The View” in Sofia and gathered dozens of members and friends.

“It is a great pleasure for me that all of you are here today and we have the possibility to send off a really successful year. The feeling of being among you is wonderful, you are my second family” – with this words, the Chairwoman of the Council, doctor engineer Boryana Manolova greeted all guests who came to the event.

The meeting was an occasion for Mrs. Manolova to present the activities of the Council for 2017. The balance showed an exceptionally active year for organization of different activities and initiatives. Part of it were the participation of foreign forums, meetings with prominent leaders, politicians and art people, Afterwork meetings on different topics, the creation of work groups focused on important social topics and legislative initiatives as a result of which the proposal of the Council for 50% of the maternity leave to be paid to women who have returned to work before an year has passed since they have given birth was accepted as a change in the Labor Code.

Among the main activities of the organization continue to be the “Leadership academy” as well as its special edition for directors of schools and the “National internship initiative” which is the biggest platform for providing internships for young people.

During the Christmas cocktail Mrs. Manolova also presented two new projects which are yet to be implemented in 2018 – “Start your business in Bulgaria” and the second edition of the Global Forum of Women Leaders in June, as well.

A special guest of the event was the mayor of Sofia Mrs. Yordanka Fandakova who is a patron of the Leadership Academy. In the Christmas spirit she received a gift – plastic arts in a sign of appreciation for her support of the initiative.

During the event, the Chairwoman of the Council of Women in Business announced as well a change in the Charter according to which the ladies from the Leadership academy become associated members of the organization.

The last event of the year was an occasion for networking and wishes for a lot of health and success during the New Year.
