“Lufthansa Technik Sofia” brought the interns from member companies of the Council of women in business in Bulgaria into the world of planes. The company welcomed the interns as part of the young.LEADERS.talk events within the Council’s National Internship Initiative. Their purpose is to enable the young people to meet their role models – from leaders and top managers of leading companies to young and successful professionals and entrepreneurs, and to draw lessons from their personal stories.
During the visit the interns got familiar with the company’s history and its business. “Lufthansa Technik Sofia” started 11 years ago with 200 employees and their number today is 1 200. The company is developing very rapidly and has 8 aircraft service bays.
Georgi Stamboliiski, quality inspector, spoke about the company’s core business. The young people were very impressed to see a plane repair. They were very curious to learn more about it but also asked questions like “Is it dangerous to use mobile phones during a flight”.
Georgi Stamboliiski said that for the company safety comes first and the planes are the most secure transport. “The aviation is developing faster than the IT industry and we are like the surgeons – we have to learn every day in order to keep up with the new trends”, said Stamboliiski.
The career opportunities and the open job positions at the company were also presented to the interns.
